Ready for your Antiques Roadshow moment? Famous TV expert to host treasure hunts in Staffordshire and Derbyshire

One of Britain’s best known antiques experts is coming to Staffordshire and Derbyshire in a bid to uncover some jaw-dropping finds.

Antiques and Fine Art specialist Adam Schoon, a consultant on TV’s legendary Antiques Roadshow for 25 years, will join fellow expert Charles Hanson at a free valuation and consignment event at Sparrow’s Tearoom, Bishton Hall, on Wednesday, August 7 from 10am-4pm. No appointment necessary

Adam will also be at Hansons’ Derbyshire saleroom in Heage Lane, Etwall, on August 6, 10am-4pm. To book an appointment, please email  service@hansonsauctioneers.co.uk or call 01283 733988.

Adam, a member of The Oriental Ceramic Society of London, said: “I hope we can uncover some special objects in Staffordshire. It’s always exciting to find and handle items with history and heritage –  and to see the smiles when you tell someone their object is valuable. If you have anything at home you’re curious to know more about, please bring it to show me.”

Charles Hanson, owner of Hansons Auctioneers,  said: “This is a wonderful opportunity because Adam is hugely knowledgeable. He has been assessing antiques for more than 40 years. His speciality is Chinese and Asian ceramics and works of art but he has a broad knowledge of all types of antiques and collectibles. Plus, myself and my team will be on hand to support him. We can assess anything from ceramics, coins and curios to militaria, toys and works of art.

“It promises to be a really special day, great fun for all antiques fans. Visitors can also enjoy the grandeur and gardens of Hansons’ Georgian saleroom Bishton Hall, and homemade cakes and refreshments in Sparrow’s Tearoom.

“Who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy one of those jaw-dropping moments you see on TV when you learn the value of your antique. If you like what you hear, items can be consigned into auction with Hansons on the day. No appointment is necessary and the fun comes free. Just turn up with your treasure.”

Adam Schoon will be at Hansons’ Etwall Auction Centre, Derbyshire, on Aug 6, 10am-4pm. To book an appointment, please email  service@hansonsauctioneers.co.uk or call 01283 733988.
